Taking a short walk with Kaylee yesterday (short because I'm trying to stay out of the cold and wind as I recover from strep), I saw a sign that's been on the telephone pole for several weeks, a notification from the electric company saying that our electricity will be off on two different days in November.
Which is, of course, past now.
I don't know what made me take a closer look at it since it's been there for a few weeks, but it's a good thing I did. It was actually a new sign to say it's happening again on December 12.
The past two times the electricity was turned off, I knew about it in advance. But when the time came, I forgot and didn't prepare. It made for a long day without some essentials. This time I was determined to do it differently!
Rising early this morning in order to be ready, I hurried downstairs to do the most important thing first.
Put on a pot of coffee and get it in a thermos!
Then light some candles.
And fill the water bottles (our pump works on electricity so we don't have water when it's off).
After a quick shower and blow-dry, I was ready for my day to start...bright and early when that strange "whoosh" echoed through the house as it went dark.
But actually it was fine this morning since I was ready for it. Reading my Bible, praying and journaling had a great feel to it by candlelight!
While it looked like it would be a stormy day, the weather turned out to be completely different: glorious sunshine all day.
With a spectacular sunset to end the day after the electricity had come back on.
No editing. No enhancement. Just this.
And this!
It's now 9:30 PM, but my day is not done yet. At 11 I'll be at the Ostrava airport to pick up Dave who is flying in from his conference in Rome.
A happy ending to a day that started well too!
You know this kind of day would have made me happy! :)
