This beautiful lady is my long time best friend of 36 years, Michelle Watson.
There's a lot I could tell about her...her joy in life, her love for Jesus, her skill as a professional counselor. She's vibrant, tenacious, godly, generous and dedicated - and absolutely delightful to be with.
While there are many other words I could say about her, I want to share a resource with you that she's written just for dads. Take a look at this three minute video to hear her heart and see what I mean about who she is.
The book she talks about came from years of experience working with dads and their daughters.
Believing in the transforming power of a dad's relationship with his daughter, she founded the "The Abba Project", a group for courageous dads who are ready to commit to "kicking it up a notch" with their teenage and/or 20-something daughter over the course of a year in her life.
Today begins the seventh, year-long Abba Project group for 11 brave dads in the Portland, Oregon area. They'll meet one evening a month from now until June, learning from Michelle's extensive research and experience to help them relate to their daughters in deeper and more effective ways.
While there were some who initially said, "You'll never get dads to come to a group like this", she shares on her website this quote:
I’ll never forget the day I asked the dads why they kept coming and why they kept doing their homework. After about a 30-second pause one finally spoke up and said, “because we love our daughters.” All the dads readily agreed.
The results from hers and their work? Positively staggering! Daughters and dads lives have both been transformed through these groups, and the reading of her book.
"Dad, Here's What I Really Need From You", (available through Amazon if you click the link) is a tremendous book that I highly recommend for dads with daughters. Even if your daughter is still young, you'll appreciate the resources and help she offers to guide you through the teenage and college years.

"I"m so proud of you Michelle, for your dedication, passion and joy in bringing such excellent resources to dads and their daughters! May this year's Abba Project Group bring about even greater transformation and depth in those dads and their daughters. And may the Lord continue to empower you as you lead, facilitate and join those dads on their journeys!"
