As the saying goes, "All good things must come to an end."
That could sound sad and gloomy, but I see it differently.
If one good circumstance doesn't come to an end, then there's not space for the next good one to come.
In the case of today, the one good thing that came to an end was the visit with my parents. After five days here in Chicago to see their grandchildren (and Dave and I!) it was time to say goodbye this afternoon.
Although they didn't get to meet Judah, who has yet to make his appearance, they had lots of sweet time with us and I'm so glad they came!
We drove down into the city one last time and picked up Claire at Moody so she could come to the airport with us.
And there we finished off our very good time with lots of smiles, hugs and kisses. Oh and a few more pictures!
We've been saying hellos and goodbyes for many years now, and my parents are always so filled with grace and love to me, my family and the life we lead. They enjoy what time is given to them, soaking in every moment, and treasuring it. I love that about who they are.
I guess that's how I learned to do the same.
"Thank you Mom and Dad for teaching me to treasure the moment, and for a great visit to Chicago! We're all glad you came!"
