As I write this letter I am squished in the middle seat of a Lufthansa flight bound for Chicago. Why, after all these years, I don’t remember to book my seat assignment ahead of time is beyond me!
At least I have a seat. When I checked in and found out where I was seated, and asked about getting a different spot, the gate agent told me the flight was overbooked. By 45 seats! I’m thankful to at least be on the flight.
The reason I’m traveling to Chicago is much like my seating problem on this plane.
We are squished.
For the past 15 years our training center at Malenovice has served the Josiah Venture team well. It has been the place of hundreds of evangelistic camps and training conferences. Many have trusted Christ; many have experienced life transformation there. It’s been home to the movement of God that we continue to pray for in Central and Eastern Europe.
But we are out of space.
While there are other hotels in the area to house people, there is no space big enough for large gatherings and meetings of 500-600. We are turning away people from our training events for just one reason: we don’t fit anymore.
Four years ago we began working to solve this problem. And now, we finally have a plan and all the permissions from local authorities to build an event center on our Malenovice property. We are so excited to be expanding our capacity to do more for the Kingdom of God!
Throughout the past year Dave has quietly shared this vision and already God has provided $2.4 million dollars towards the project. Over $400,000 of that came from our own Josiah Venture missionary family, who sacrificially pledged and gave donations at our spring conference in May.
Now Dave and I are headed to the States for the next three weeks to share the vision of our new event center with numerous individuals and foundations. We are praying that our Dad, the one who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, will also provide the last $3.1 million.
Will you pray for this with us?
While the world struggles with so much heartache these days, God is moving powerfully in the lives of young people here. At our JV camps right now, many are putting their faith in Jesus. It’s harvest time in Central and Eastern Europe and we want to equip more of these young, excited believers to do all they can to share the good news about Jesus with their friends and families, and be part of transforming this region for God.
If you would like to be part of helping us reach and train the next generation, click HERE to give a gift towards our new Event Center.
Thanks for believing God with us for his movement in the lives of young people.
Did you fly on Monday or Tuesday? I was on a very full Lufthansa flight from Munich to Chicago on Monday. That's not the nice kind of squished. Outgrowing space is a much better kind. :)
