“No company, small or large, can win over the long run without energized employees who believe in the mission and understand how to achieve it. ~Jack Welch, General Electric
“People want guidance, not rhetoric. They need to know what the plan of action is and how it will be implemented. They want to be given responsibility to help solve the problem and the authority to act on it.” ~Howard Schultz, Starbucks
“You know, as most entrepreneurs do, that a company is only as good as its people. The hard part is actually building the team that will embody your company culture and propel you forward.” ~Kathryn Minshew, The Muse
While those are all valuable principles, there is a biblical principle that, while surely not as popular, is how God's economy works best.
Then Jesus said,
"If anyone would come after me he must deny himself
and take up his cross and follow me.
and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for me will find it."
but whoever loses his life for me will find it."
Matthew 16:24
I spent an hour and a half this morning with a group of ladies who are daily living this out.
Once a month the wives of our JV country leaders meet on "Zoom", a video conferencing tool we use for meetings when we can't be together in person.
Led by my sister-in-law, Kristi, along with Kristy Williams serving in Ukraine, these two women offer their years of experience as country leader wives with the other 13 women in that position right now, shepherding them in the role of laying their lives down for the sake of the Lord, and for their teammates.
During their once a month meeting they give updates on their lives, take turns sharing, and spend time in small group "breakout rooms" praying for each other at the end of the meeting. It was so beautiful to see all of their faces this morning!
They also take a topic each month and discuss it, which is why I was there this month. Kristi asked me to talk about caring for a team, a topic I'm passionate about.
Our time flew by all too quickly, and before I knew it, an hour and a half was up and it was time for them to go into their groups to pray. But I'm so glad I got to look at all of their beautiful faces for those minutes, and share my heart for them during our time together.
I commend these faithful servants of God, who are daily laying their lives down for the sake of the Gospel.
