There is something so special about waking up on the farm of our friends who live in Oregon.
Our friend said she too takes pictures out her kitchen window because the view is always changing, and ever beautiful. I agree. I'd take them often too!
Waking up in this more than hundred year old farmhouse, coming downstairs to the wood stove that's been in almost the same place since the house was built, and into the kitchen that has fed people for over a century, is a reminder of the faithfulness of people who came to this land to farm it.
Year after year they till the soil, pray for rain and sunshine, trust God for the harvest, and call out to Him for their needs.
Whenever we visit these friends, we're reminded that farming and missionary work is much the same thing. While you can do all the right things at the right times, the end is always up to the Lord.
As they pray for us, we pray for them...that God will bring the harvest. Sometimes the harvest is an abundance and we all rejoice in those days and years! But sometimes God's will is to do the same thing over and over, trusting Him for the outcome that we can't always see.
We pray for a great harvest for our friends this summer, that God will bless the work of their hands. And we pray the same for our JV team as we head towards summer too!
